How old do you have to be to adopt a child?
I am 19 years old, and am going to be the single mom to twins in 2 weeks. I know I am not the perfect person to adopt a child, but I have gotten very close to 4 year old Noelle, and we are already like mother and daughter, and she has even asked me to adopt her, because she says she doesn’t like living with foster families and she would rather grow up with me as her mommy. I love her so much and I want to adopt her so much, but am I too young?

Most states require you to be 21. You are not in the position to adopt. They can take into consideration that you are already spread thin with twins (I’ve been there) and they’ll likely turn you down on that fact until they are a bit older. Foster children often need a bit more attention for a while to ensure that they have a good start with a family. With twins, you aren’t going to be able to provide that for a while. You are too young, and you are about to start on a crazy journey with your own two kids. Good luck with them.
i dont know if its exsactly the same but my brother adopted a nephew (my stupid cousins kid) at 18 i dont kno if its exactly the same since we were family
If your over 18 you can adopt. If you love her enough adopt her.
I thought you had to be 21 but maybe its different depending on the state you live in..
yes you can 18 is the age
In most states 21 to adopt a non-relative. In this case she will either go home or be adopted by her current foster parents.
Most states require a person be at least twenty one years of age.
