My character gets a hold of her files at her adoption agency but idk what they would look like or consist of. Could someone describe what they would contain so I can make it seem realistic? I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

I’m assuming it would have the real names of her birth mom and dad. The date the character was born and the name of the hospital. The city/town and state where she was born. And the name her birth parents gave her. The information on the records might depend on the agency and state, such as if there are any limits to which information can be provided. Another thing you can do is visit some adoption websites and search for the information there, or use Google. If Answers has an adoption section then you can ask there also.

I’m guessing somewhat like this. :]
I have seen multiple posts about this story today. There are websites with this information out there. Please find them.
From an adoption agency, searchers will usually find "non-identifying information" which means that there are no names, addresses, or anything that could identify the birth family. It can contain social, medical, and family history.
The adoptee has to go to court or the State records office to get his/her birth certificate, or pre-adoption birth certificates. State laws vary in regards to getting your original birth certificate.
