I know that every country is going to have there own laws but is it at ALL possible to adopt a child off the streets when they are not in an orphanage or adoption center?
Just wondering because there is a place with an awful lot amount of homeless children. It is very difficult to adopt there because the adoption center regularly remove the children from the shelter, whether someone was interested in adopting them or not. So seeking couples don’t get to finish the adoption proses before the child becomes homeless again.
I’m interested in adopting here and was just considering my options if I run into this problem.

I know adoption is kind of a touchy subject, so let me explain my position. My wife and I were discussing our someday having children at her mother’s house. Her mother-in-law said, and I paraphrase, "Don’t plan too much, because you might not have kids". (She has a reason to say this, because she had a LOT of difficulty trying to have her 2 children). I then pointed out that my wife and I discussed the matter already, and if we were unable to have children, we would simply adopt, and it would not phase me in the least.
Now this is where my wife and I differ. She said she would have no problem adopting children, and we have even discussed adopting a child along with our own children, if we have any. However, she said that, while she would of course raise an adopted child with as much love as her own, she would RATHER have her own child. I, on the other hand, could care less: A child is a child, whether you personally created it or not.
Am I weird? Do most people desire to have their own flesh-and-blood children more than just an adopted child? Or is this just a natural difference of opinion y wife and I have?

Why didn’t the McCains adopt a child from the U.S. instead of getting one from Bangladesh?
Thoughts?

I want to adopt my ex-girlfriend’s son. She is a horrible parent. I have a strong bond with her son for the past 7 years. She knows I want to adopt him. However, she thinks that if I do that her son will hate her, or that she is somehow abandoning him. I told her that letting him go will be the best thing she ever does for him. I can’t fit all the details here, but she is just a horrible parent and he is suffering under her so called care. He wants me to adopt him, I want to adopt him… and the clock is ticking. So she already knows what I want to do. Now I just need to find a way to push her over the fence to consent to it. Any suggestions? Thanks!
She’s not doing anything illegal. She’s just a horrible parent. I tired to work with her on this for years. She just isn’t interested in being a parent but she doesn’t want to look bad for giving him up. It’s all about her. That’s the hang-up really.

Are you allowed to know any information about the child other than a medical history? For instance are you allowed to know their likes and dislikes, and rather or not they are social or anti social? Or is that something you will just have to find out after you adopt them?
