Instead of not being about to pick is there a way that you can pick a child that you would want like age, race, sex?

Most agencies in domestic adoption have you fill out a questionnaire about what type of child you’d be most comfortable adopting. You can check which races you are open to, as well as gender, age, & special needs. Keep in mind the more you are open to, the more you’ll get shown. When you adopt from the foster care system you fill out a similar questionnaire. In international adoption you choose what country to adopt from.
No, they pick a name out of a hat, and you just get the kid that comes out. Seriously.
Sure, Microsoft just put the finishing touches on it! Getakid 2.0 will insure that you can navigate your way through the often hairy adoption process to nab the kid of your dreams–and in the right color, too!
well yeah….you just pull up to the window and tell them what you want. they are happy to help.
might even give you some fries for the ride home
Usually adopt agencies are either global or country specific. Yes you can (at some agencies/countries) pick what you would prefer, other agencies/countries just pick a name out of a hat. It depends.
You can be very specific, it just takes longer. Personally, I think you should be if there is something you really care about. Just be willing to wait.I’d also give a cut off age. Friends of ours asked for a child no older than 3 and when the agency offered an 8 yr. old they didn’t have the heart to say no and it was quite difficult…mostly because they felt that their wishes hadn’t been considered. So, I say, be very specific about your desires. Good luck
Yeah, didn’t you hear about those new drive-up adoption windows where you can get a kid "your way"? You might have to pay a little extra. Kinda like getting extra tartar sauce to dip your fries in.
Most agencies allow you to decide what ethnicities you would be open to. More and more agencies are not allowing people to pick the gender. The agency we are using does not allow AP’s to choose gender. It makes sense to me. You can’t pick the gender when it’s your bio child so why should you pick when you are adopting. Most agencies and foster care programs allow you to pick an age range.
As long as you have the bucks to buy your dream child, 99.9% of the US adoption agencies will let you choose whatever child you specify. As long as you give enough money to line the pockets of adoption agency workers to their satisfaction, you can get whatever you want.
ebay.
You can specify. In most cases, I think it is ridiculous, but you can do it. My parents said that when they were asked about racial preferences, they did say they thought it would be best if they didn’t adopt a child who was black because a lot of my dad’s family was pretty racist and they didn’t think it would be fair to adopt a child and then put them in an environment where they knew people would be discriminatory towards them. In my opinion, that was them trying to think in the best interest of the child. However, I am against people doing it because they see adoption as a way to pick out a customized baby.
Build-a-kid. Kinda like build a bear, just with the kiddies! Kiddo shaked and baked right to your specifications!
uh sure, just be sure to place your order with cash, check or any major credit card. if your heart isn’t in the right place, don’t screw up some kids life even more. but seriously, yes you can pick which kid you’d like to adopt. however, with that attitude–you might not get the chance.
It probably depends on how long you want to wait for Little Baby Perfect to come along, and the children of inferior races, sex and ages are cheaper.
Heaven forfend you should actually adopt the kid who needs you the most, because adoption is about anything but the best interests of the child, amirite?
As mentioned by others, when you fill out the questionnaires or do interviews, they do ask these things. I think they are reasonable questions, despite all the nastiness from your other posters. My cousin and his wife, for instance, specifically stated that they wanted an older child. They preferred a girl, but would have been just as happy to have a boy. I’m sure there is some slot where you can check off race preferences as well as no preference.
